Some of the highlights from the African UrbanTech Summit
- Announcement of catalytic funding for Kenyan businesses in the housing and construction sector: Mycotile Ltd, ManPro Systems Ltd., The Vlage, Ahomes and Malikodi. The businesses were awarded a fund totaling to KES12.5 Million. The catalytic funding was a result of the ShelterTech Accelerator Kenya program, a program by Habitat for Humanity’s Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter.
- We hosted two Facebook live sessions bringing 2000+ views. The live sessions were intended to build engagement, conversation and actionable outcomes linked to two of the panel sessions from the livestream on the themes of “Urban Mobility” and “Emergency Response for Covid-19”.
- The Innovation Challenge sought to identify and award young innovators building solutions on the themes of “Urban Mobility” and “Emergency Response for Covid-19”. The winners (Doctors Live and KLINBERA Waste Management Service) will be awarded up to USD500 each as seed investment and receive a business support package from Pangea Accelerator, which includes mentoring, business advisory and investor matching services valued at USD 5,000 to aid them in scaling their idea.
